This page is intended to help you with all your Whirlpool Duet Washer Troubleshooting needs. Below you will find all the information you need to find out what is wrong with your machine and how to fix it. Good Luck!
Your Whirlpool Duet Washer has a test cycle which can be run to aid you in troubleshooting. Depending on exactly which model you have the precise buttons which need to be pressed can be slightly different so if the following instructions do not work for you then do not worry and try experimenting as the process should be very similar.
- To begin the test mode first close the door
- Press the ‘Control On’ button
- Select the ‘DRAIN/SPIN’ cycle
- Select ‘NO SPIN’ by pressing the ‘SPIN SELECT’ button
- Push ‘PREWASH OPTION’ button 4 times within 5 seconds
- Now if you have successfully initiated the test mode ‘C:00′ will show in the display.
- If the procedure fails just press the ‘PAUSE/CANCEL’ button then repeat the sequence again.
Once the test cycle begins it will go through 8 different modes to check each component. These are as follows:
- C:00 – System checks that door is locked and the door lock mechanism is functional
- C:01- System fills by cold water inlet velvet to check it is working
- C:02- Distribution system is set to pre-wash position to check Dispenser Motor and Dispenser Contact.
- C:03- Fill by hot water inlet valve to check it is working
- C:04- Basket rotates clockwise at was speed to check Motor
- C:05- Heater is switched ON, basket rotates at speed to check the Heater and Temperature Sensor
- C:06- System checks if Drain Pump is working
- C:07Basket rotates counter-clockwise from 35 to 90 rpm within 15 seconds to check Motor
- C:08- Basket rotates counter-clockwise with max. speed to check Motor
In addition to this your Whirlpool Duet Washer may also display error codes to let you know what the fault with your machine is. Some of the most common error codes you are likely to encounter are as follows:
- If the error code “F/H” is displayed this means that no water is detected entering the machine. You should check for any kinks or plugs in the inlet hoses and verify that the inlet hoses are not leaking.
- Similarly, if the error code “F/dL” us displayed this indicates that there has been a Door Lock error, i.e. the door cannot be locked. This could be because the Door Lock has failed or because there is a problem with the connections.
- If the error code “F/dU” is displayed then this indicates a Door Unlock problem. Again it could be the the door locking mechanism is broken or it could be the result of some kind of foreign object obstructing the unlocking procedure. If this error has occurred for you then it is possible to unlock the door manually. To do this begin by UNPLUGGING THE POWER CORD FROM THE MACHINE – this is very important. Then proceed to remove the lower toe panel and you should be able to reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch. Here you should find a tear-dropped shaped tab – gently pull this tab down about ¼ inch to manually unlock the door.
